Where does the weather data come from?

We use the free Open-Meteo API, which provides weather data from national weather services worldwide. No API key or registration is required.

Is my search private?

Yes. All weather requests are made directly from your browser to Open-Meteo. We do not store or log your searches.

How many days of forecast can I see?

You can view today, tomorrow, 3 days, 7 days, or 14 days. Use the range tabs to switch. The API supports up to 16 days; we show up to 14.

Can I switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit?

Yes. Click the unit toggle to switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F). Your choice is saved in your browser.

How do I search for a city?

Search by city name (e.g. London, Paris, New York). Start typing and select a result from the dropdown. The tool uses Open-Meteo Geocoding to find coordinates.

What weather data is shown?

The tool shows current temperature, feels-like temperature, humidity, wind speed, and a daily forecast with min/max temperatures and precipitation probability.

Is the weather tool free?

Open-Meteo is free for non-commercial use and does not require an API key. There are no signups or limits for normal use.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The tool works on phones and tablets. Search for a city, pick a range, and toggle units as on desktop.

What do the weather icons mean?

Weather codes (e.g. clear, cloudy, rain) follow the WMO standard. Icons and short descriptions are shown for each condition.

Are my preferences saved?

Your last selected city and your unit (C/F) and range preferences are stored in your browser so they are restored on your next visit.

Know the UV Index Scale

Understand UV index values: 0-2 (low), 3-5 (moderate), 6-7 (high), 8-10 (very high), 11+ (extreme). Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen for index 3 and above and seek shade during peak hours.

Check "Feels Like" Temperature

The "feels like" temperature accounts for wind chill and humidity. In cold weather, wind makes air feel colder; in hot weather, high humidity raises the perceived temperature significantly.

Interpret Wind Speed Correctly

Wind speed is measured in km/h or mph. Calm is under 20 km/h, breezy is 20-50 km/h, and strong wind above 60 km/h can make outdoor activities difficult or hazardous.

Use Humidity as a Comfort Guide

Humidity above 60% makes hot days feel oppressive because sweat evaporates slowly. Below 30% causes dry skin and static electricity. Ideal indoor comfort is between 40-60% relative humidity.

Monitor Visibility for Safety

Visibility is measured in meters or kilometers. Normal visibility is 10 km or more. Fog and heavy rain can drop visibility below 1 km, which significantly affects driving safety.

Track Pressure Trends

Atmospheric pressure falling rapidly (more than 8 hPa in 3 hours) often signals an approaching storm. Rising pressure generally indicates improving, more stable weather conditions.

Plan Around Sunrise and Sunset

Sunrise and sunset times help you plan outdoor activities. Golden hour, the hour after sunrise and before sunset, offers the best natural light for photography and outdoor sports.

Use Dew Point for Accurate Comfort Readings

Dew point is a more reliable comfort indicator than humidity percentage. A dew point above 18°C (65°F) feels humid; above 24°C (75°F) is oppressive. Below 10°C (50°F) feels dry and comfortable.

Understand Cloud Cover Percentages

Cloud cover is measured as a percentage of the sky obscured. Partly cloudy means 25-50% coverage. Overcast means 100%. Even with full cloud cover, UV radiation can still reach harmful levels.

Understand Precipitation Probability

Weather apps show precipitation probability, not certainty. A 70% chance of rain means 70 out of 100 similar days produce rain — it does not mean 70% of the day will be rainy.
