JaneX Kitchen is a free food search and nutrition tool. Search for recipes by name or ingredients, explore food products with nutrition data and Nutri-Score ratings, and get AI-powered health insights. The tool combines data from TheMealDB and Open Food Facts with optional AI analysis to help you make informed food choices.

    Type ingredients (e.g., chicken, rice), a recipe name (e.g., Pad Thai), or a product name (e.g., Nutella) in the search bar.

    Press Enter or click the search button to start the search. The tool queries recipe and product databases simultaneously.

    Results appear in two tabs: Recipes and Products. Switch between tabs to see different result types. Each tab shows a count of results found.

How do I search for recipes or food products?

Type ingredients, a recipe name, or a product name in the search bar and press Enter. The tool searches TheMealDB for recipes and Open Food Facts for products, then displays results in separate tabs.

Can I search by multiple ingredients at once?

Yes. Enter multiple ingredients separated by commas, spaces, or other separators. The tool finds recipes that contain all the listed ingredients.

What are AI health insights?

Click the "Get Insights" button on any expanded recipe or product card. The AI analyzes nutrition, health benefits, and potential concerns, and provides a health verdict.

Where does the recipe and product data come from?

Recipe data comes from TheMealDB, a free recipe database. Product data comes from Open Food Facts, an open food product database with nutrition information and Nutri-Score ratings.

What is the Nutri-Score rating on products?

Nutri-Score is a nutrition label that rates food from A (healthiest) to E (least healthy). Products display their Nutri-Score as a colored badge when available.

Is there a limit on AI insights?

AI insights are limited to 20 requests per day per user to manage costs. Recipe and product searches are not limited by this cap.

How do I view recipe details?

Click on any recipe or product card to expand it. Recipes show full ingredients and instructions. Products show ingredients, nutrition facts, and Nutri-Score.

What information do AI insights provide?

AI insights include a health verdict (healthy, moderation, or avoid), a summary, key benefits, things to watch out for, and suggested food pairings or healthier alternatives.

Are AI insights cached?

AI insights are cached for 30 days. If you or another user requests insights for the same item, the cached result is returned instantly without using your daily AI limit.

Can I search in languages other than English?

Yes. The tool supports 10 languages. Type your query in any supported language and the tool will automatically detect it. AI insights are also returned in the detected language.

Plan Meals Ahead

Spend 15 minutes each week planning meals. This reduces food waste, saves money on impulse purchases, and ensures you maintain a balanced diet throughout the week.

Read Nutrition Labels Carefully

Pay attention to serving sizes, added sugars, sodium, and ingredient lists. The Nutri-Score rating provides a quick overview, but understanding the details helps make better choices.
